What makes spinal decompression therapy so effective?
Doctor skill, computerized programing in the Saunders table, as well as, advanced state of the art therapies play a large role in effective and successful outcomes. Proper patient assessment and classification, correct positioning and the use of pre-programmed patterns of distraction/relaxation to help reduce intervertebral disc pressures and allow necessary nutrients to enliven and accelerate disc healing. This procedure also helps to decompress spinal nerves and joints which can cause pain, numbness and muscle weakness and loss of motion.
Why do people think that Advanced Spine & Joint Care is the best Spinal Decompression Rehab clinic in Vista?
It starts with our Kennedy Certified Spinal Decompression Practitioner who has dedicated 10+ years in treating serious cases and 1000’s of treatments on the Suanders 3D Active Trac.
It is all in the treatment protocol. Dr. Elliott uses a tried and proven approach that covers a minimum of 8 aspects of treatment:
- Spinal Decompression
- Nutrition Therapy
- In Office Exercise Rehab
- Oxygen Therapy
- Low Force Chiropractic Adjustments
- Home Care
- Expert Management
- High Wattage Laser Therapy
Dr. Mark Elliott realizes that leaving out one of these key elements to treatment can mean the difference of healing a bad disc or surgery.
The good news is that Spinal Decompression has little to no side effects and the studies show that it has a high level of satisfaction and effectiveness in low back cases. Dr. Elliott believes that due to the conservative nature Spinal Decompression Therapy it is the first treatment of choice among neck and back pain with disc injuries and stenosis.
Are there medical studies which document the effectiveness of spinal decompression?
Yes! One MRI study documented up to 90% reduction of disc herniations in 10 of 14 cases and other studies reported that the majority of herniated disc patients achieved “good” to “excellent” results after spinal decompression therapy. “To Your Health” magazine featured an article that discusses the safety and effectiveness of this non-surgical treatment for spinal disc herniations. Click here to read the article.
How many sessions will be needed and what is the cost?
Our customary fee for each patient specific spinal decompression program varies depending on the amount of treatment needed, the payment option chosen by the patient and if insurance is involved. Our goal is affordability and reasonable pricing so you can get your life back as quickly as possible.
We believe in giving the patient a number of payment options. This allows for just about everyone that needs care the ability to easily start care. This also means that your total program cost can be a small fraction of the extraordinary fees that some high profile clinics charge.
What other therapies are provided along with the Spinal Decompression Therapy?
In addition to Spinal Decompression Therapy, prescribed therapies often called physical therapy by Physical Therapists or physiotherapy by Doctors of Chiropractic may include gentle chiropractic manipulation, oxygen therapy and other Passive Therapies – often considered temporary relief. These Passive Therapies included muscle stimulation, ultrasound, cold laser therapy and massage/myofascial release to help reduce swelling, pain levels and relax tight muscles. This allows for a more gentle and thorough Spinal Decompression treatment and allows the healing process to begin in the early weeks of care.
For optimum results, an Active Therapy Program, in the later weeks of care, may also be prescribed when tolerated and usually consists of gentle low impact strengthening, stabilizing and coordination rehabilitation. Dr. Elliott often uses many of the rehab protocols of The Pettibon System of Spine and Posture Rehabilitation which is considered by many to be the most effective spinal rehabilitation program available.
Home care and Nutrition can also play a strong role in patient recovery, and may also be prescribed to shorten recovery times and minimize a potential for flare-up episodes. This gives the patient the ability and confidence to continue to strengthen and stabilize their spine and personally manage their condition long after their Spinal Decompression Program is completed for long lasting results.
